Have not been out for a NEW hike this 2015. First of the year!  Happy New Year.

I have been thinking about hitting Lake Pleasant since Jim still has the Maricopa parks pass.  Need to get that per hike fee down.

Tim and OZ joined Tina, Jim and I.  We hit the trail a little after 8:00 am.  It was actually pretty chilly and windy as we started out.  We were almost running trying to get to the sunny part of the trail.  The area was quite beautiful.  We parked at the South trailhead for Pipeline Canyon.  This is a 2 miler out and back.  The out is to the North trailhead parking lot.

What an amazing area. I forget that this is less than 30 minutes from the house.  The Lake is so pretty.  When I first moved to Arizona I had dreams I could not find the water.  Was looking for the ocean but this is close enough.  Imagination can make it anything you want.
Introducing the Lake

Burrr...it's cold in here!  Who wears shorts in January?

The trail is well maintained.  We saw hieroglyphics on a rock.  Also looked like grafetti under it.

Within a 1/4 mile we hit a floating bridge that takes us from one side of the peninsula to another.  We could see sailboats and hear motor boats in the distance.

Tim saw a huge fish jump but of course no one else did.

We headed up the hill for about a mile and then the trail flattened out.  We were looking for the wild burros that are supposidly roaming the area.  We did see droppings that looked like a horse or burro. But never saw any.

What an amazing view this is.  You almost forget you are in Arizona.

We passed the Yavapai point turn off and continued on Pipeline until we saw another Yavapai turnoff.  We were almost to the parking lot and per map my hike just about 2 miles.  We decided that Yavaipai appeared to be a loop that would take us closer to the water and back to the Pipeline.  We took that and headed back.
The weather was so nice, the views were beautiful and the sun was shinning bright.
The Love Birds
Great 1st New hike of 2015.  Will definitely come back to this spot. Maybe just for a picnic and pretend that I am at the ocean.
Water is Water!

Happy New Year!
