Hike #2 of the day.
After Leaving Matt, Jim and Pagosha at the Java Love Cafe we headed to the trailhead off Little Elf Road. This is the same trailhead Julio and I did to do the Tea Cup hike - #3 this year. This time our destination is to the West, heading towards Thunder Mountain and Chimney Rock.
There are a couple options for parking. Of course I picked the one further away from the landmark. Coffee Pot Road to Sanborn to Little Elf. The parking lot was full except for one spot, ours! We started out the hike both suddenly feeling tired. Who knew that Cathedral Rock and a brief stop would do that. We both grabbed protein bars and hit the trail. Knowing we were one hike away from lunch!
We started on the Tea Cup Trail to the North and picked up the Thunder Mountain trail about 1/4 mile in. We took Thunder Mountain to Chimney Pass and up the hill to Chimney Mtn. We took a trail north at the top to explore and then headed back the same way we came.
It was still windy and warmer than this morning but still Beautiful!
We explored around the top. There were a couple of trails that you could take. We passed a few people. Mostly older. One young couple with two dogs. There is not much traffic on this hike.

Again a favorite of mine to sit overlooking Boynton Canyon. We had a great afternoon relaxing, swapping pictures from the day, and eating Mexican food. Very good!
As the sun set over the patio we started to get cold. What Wimps!
Cheers! |
It was a great day! Lots of more hikes in Sedona for future visits.
Hike #14
