Calling this one new because I have never done this route and never done part of the route. This was going to be an afterwork hike around the back North end. It turned into a 6 miler with more up than we planned. It was one of those. We have time to go all the way around. Blame it on the FitBit Challenge. If you have a FitBit you may be a crazy person. It you have friends with a FitBit you become a crazy person. Work Week Challenge has us marching around the house at 11 PM to beat the one that went to bed. Or one walking while the others are sleeping due to time zone differences. Regardless it gets you moving!!
OK - We did 304 to 1A to VOAZ. Picked up the Irregular Link but not the same spot that we did in hike #8. Picked up 302. 302 to 300 which is part of the Summit Trail then back down. Hit the road to the North parking lot. It was fun. I kept shutting my mapmyhike off by accident. Then it was not tracking. In the end it was about 6 miles and 12000 steps.
It was a good hike. Tina and I are both not fans of the Summit trail because of the crowds and the steps. We had a guy run down past us. Another guy "skip" past us. I think he was a drunk Leprechaun or someone practicing his Irish Jig. We enjoyed everything except for that part.
This goes to show you don't have to do the same old hike every time and you can make anything out of a hike. We were both tired by the end of this hike. Little out of shape because we have not been hiking as much or working out. But if you challenge yourself with distance, hills and speed you will be amazed at what you can do.
Didn't take pictures because been there done that.
This was my view on the drive home. Sorry New Englanders. AZ Winters are why we put up with the heat!!
